I love teaching, and it takes a big place in my professional life. I feel privileged to help other musicians to come closer to their dream by relealing their abilities and visions, – just as well as I feel that teaching is the way to dig something really in depth.
Music has a lot to offer for a curious and passionate scholar. While I am teaching various musical disciplines, from composition to orchestration through songwriting, traditional and non-traditional harmony, arrangement, piano and more, I am always looking for the individual student’s sparke of interest and for their unique inner world, to make the learning process meaningful, since one cannot teach the same to different people.
Working with students on music is not about my esthetic world, it is about opening new horizons, asking the right questions and discovering the true intention, as well as slightly pushing towards creativity when needed. We may talk about form, color, message, beauty, breaking the rules, forming rules, emotion, language, manipulation…. Some lessons have more of the master-class character, others are transatlantic through Skype, some are individual while others are group classes, whether home or as part of an institutional curriculum, or just open lectures, which I love, about composition, new music, creative process, and much more.
